To Someone Who Knows

I'm sure you've all seen the new iPod, and yes I do intend to get one. My only question, not to effect my purchase in any way, are the:
Voice recording settings:
Low (22.05 KHz, mono)
High (44.1 KHz, stereo)
as stated on Apple's site. Does this mean I can plug a mic right into the headphone port or what? There's no more remote jack so I'm just plain confused.
