Wikipedia is now soliciting donations based on their foundation status in the state of Florida. While this is reasonable, I can't help but be dumbfounded as people plow their money into what is, in plainest terms, a website. While serving knowledge, with variable credibility, is all well and good, wouldn't fighting AIDS in Africa, giving books to inner-city children, or helping the homeless be a better use of you bucks?

Well you make a good point, Andrew, but Wiki is a great serivce: it is a giant encyclopedia that everyone with a internet connection can consult. This may not be a big deal now, but encyclopedias used to be very expensive, and one often had to visit a library to get access to them. :)
